ISBN - International Standard Book NumberIt is a number that uniquely identifies the books published worldwide. It also helps in uniquely identify one title or edition of a title from one specific publisher. It also includes the book like products (ebook, audiobooks etc). ISBN is available 10-digit & 13-digit format today. It is mainly used by publishers. It can be found on the back side of the book, above barcode, some times inside front cover. Going forward it is adviced to use 13-digit number as ISBN (but still optional).
ISBN-10It is 10-digit unique identifier for the book. It consists of four parts. The four parts of an ISBN are Country Id, Publisher Id, Tile Id and Check Digit. ISBN-13All books published after Jan 1, 2007 will have 13-digit ISBN. As of today it is pretty much same as ISBN-10 except it is prefixed by "978". |
